A local racer purchased a 1985, E30 BMW tube car in pieces. The pieces sat on, and in the car for a while and recently he decided to put the car together, using the facilities at Alabama Gearheads.
The 1985 E30 coupe has a special M3 engine that has been reduced to 1998 CC so it can run in the SPU class in most of the track events around the South. The engine is a high RPM (4500 to 8500) has a 4 speed close ratio sequential transmission.
The engine is a dry sump with a 3 gal tank. This car has been raced all throughout the South and has several wins in class GT2 SCCA. This is a full roll cage race car with mostly fiberglass fenders, hood, trunk, doors. Seat is adjustable and will seat 5’5” to 6’ 5” driver.
